Learn How to Sell Avon without being Salesy
People Love to Buy but they hate to be Sold. You know it’s true! Customers can tell when they are being sold on something and it’s a turn off. So the secret here is not to come across as “Salesy”. So knowing how to sell Avon without being salesy all comes down to showing them the value & benefits your product will give the customer.
Episode 043: You are not a rock – you can change anything! – Beauty Boss Essentials
It’s not about You! It’s about Them!
If you get anything from this article… it should be this!!! It’s not about YOU – it’s about them!!!! The customer… what do THEY need.
So when you think about the products you want to sell, think about how the actual product will benefit your customer. Using phrases like, “it makes my skin feel like..” or “after I use this my hair feels like… or smells like” and “when I use this on my face my it ….” You get it. What is it going to DO for them. This is what makes them want it, because they can picture the benefit it is going to give them.
This also means, when you think about what to post so you can Sell Avon on Social Media… it needs to be beneficial to your follower. Is what you are about to post providing value… teaching them something, showing them how it works, featuring the results, helping them imagine how it will work for them? Or is it one stock photo after another asking them to buy-buy-buy? Your social media feed will start to feel like a commercial. And no one likes to watch commercials all day! This is the quickest way to loose followers & engagement! Sell Avon online successfully by interacting with people, and always leading with benefits.
This is a Relationship Business.
Make an effort to learn more about your customer every time you interact with them. Both on social media as well as when you communicate via text, email, or phone calls. Get to know them better by asking questions. These are the basic skills to prospect for your new Avon customers after all. And it’s how you’ll continue to build that relationship with them too!
How to find your skin care customer has more to do with asking the right questions than anything else. When you learn what products will meet their needs and it helps them solve problems in their skin for example, they will begin to see you as the product authority. You’ll continue to develop mutual trust & respect with your customer. They will come back to you next time they need to solve a problem, because they trust what you suggest will actually work for them.
Don’t Cheapen your Brand
Listen, you are not in competition with the Dollar Stores. You don’t need to discount your products to sell them! Your products are worth it – and so are you! When you discount your products, you are teaching your customers a few bad habits and you are giving away your profit. First, maybe they think your products aren’t worth the price which may make them think they don’t work, which makes them harder to sell. Secondly, they will expect discounts every time they shop with you. This makes it harder & harder to make money.
Instead, use the tools and resources within your brand’s offerings. For example, as I mention in the Avon Rep campaigns Sales Tips, often products are already offered at a great sales price, or even have a GWP (Gift with Purchase) available. So use the offers already available to you at no cost to you – because your brand is already offering it. Make sure your customers know about these offers – and THAT is where you are adding even more VALUE to your customers. And they will be grateful you made sure they got in on those special offers. And you did so without giving away your procfit. So I encourage you to shift your mindset about your brand & about yourself! Your products are worth it – and so are you! You love your products, give your customers the chance to fall in love with them to. When you cheapen your brand, your’e only cheapening yourself.
Be the Brand
Are you using your own products? You should be! How can you speak on how it works if you aren’t using it? Why would someone buy something from you that you yourself aren’t using yourself? If you sell shampoo, buy your own shampoo… and girlfriend, don’t you dare buy shampoo at Walmart! When you use your own product you can answer questions about it, share your experience with it, speak about how it works to your followers & your customers. You become the product expert.
But, I also know, especially when your’e new, you can’t get every product right away. So little by little when you run out of things around your home, replace them with Avon. When your shampoo bottle runs out that week, buy Avon shampoo. When your laundry detergent runs out that week, buy Avon Laundry detergent. Little by little use your own products by replacing what you would be buying from the store anyway. Use your representative discount, then use those products in your content to show your own followers what you’re using and loving from Avon! This is one of my top 10 tips for new Avon reps! It’s a part of the basics!
