Maintain Hair Color Under Quarantine with Avon’s Root Touch Up

If you are like me, your hair color appt came and went while you were home with the kids under quarantine for the Corona virus. I’m doing my part to flatten the curve and therefore missed my 6 week appt to touch up my roots. So for the first time ever – I decided to give Avon x the Face Shop’s Root Touch Up a Try. What do I have to lose I thought! It’s an instant way to cover up my roots, it’s affordable, it’s temporary, it would disappear with my next wash, and if it fails – I’m at home and no one would be the wiser.

Root Touch Up First Impressions…

  1. It was easy to apply. (see my full tutorial in this video)
  2. I love the non greasy finish. I’m typically a 3-4 day hair wash kind of girl. I used this before my daily dry shampoo just to see the finish. I was surprised at how the product removed my greasy look and I ended up not needing to use dry shampoo on my 2 day hair today! WIN!
  3. The powder is a temporary color so the color did transfer onto my finger tips as I was working it through my hair. It quickly washed off with just soap and water. My tinted dry shampoo does the same thing so not something that bothered me.
  4. I was intentional when applying the sponge and was careful not to tap too hard to avoid transfer or flaking onto my clothes. But if you are concerned about fall out until you get the hang of using the applicator, I recommend placing a hand towel around your shoulders to be safe. The directions also recommend applying before your change into your clothes for the day, but I didn’t find that necessary personally.
  5. I was also pleasantly surprised with how much fuller my hair line looked! After 4 kids, my hair line seems to be thinning and receding. Double WIN!

Give the Root Touch Up a try – then share your results with me! This is a Win – Win for any woman (or man for that matter) looking for an affordable way to temporarily touch up roots in between colors.
