1. Personalize Your Online Store
Personalizing your online store should be one of the first things you do when you Join Avon! When a customer is shopping with you, especially for the first time, they want to know they are in the right place! Personalize your Avon Online Store by adding a photo of you, updating the contact & connect with me section, and even hand selecting which clickable products you want shown. Here are the best practices for setting up your online store.
2. Introduce yourself as a New Avon Rep
It’s important to launch your business right away by introducing yourself as an Avon Rep. If you don’t tell your friends and family you’ve just started selling Avon – how will they know how to support you. Introduce yourself as an Avon Rep on every platform on. The people that are following you on social media are connected with you, and can be some of your best first supporters. 3. Be a product of the product
Start building your first order by thinking about what you’d run out to that Big Box Store and buy for you and your family today! Is it laundry detergent, bathroom cleaner, dish soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, lipstick, mascara? Now instead of buying those things at that big retail store, BUY THEM FROM YOURSELF – with your representative discount – then use those products to show people what they can buy from YOU too!
Personal testimony from you is more valuable than any ad you can run. Because People buy from people! And the people that are following you on social media, your friends and family… your opinion matters to them! So share your thoughts on the opinion you are using and they will want to use them too.

4. Don’t be an order taker
Wait – isn’t that the whole point? Listen, your goal should be to add value to people, to serve people, and the orders will come. But don’t JUST “take their order” – see what other value you can offer, what problems can you solve for them, what is the end result they are looking for?
So think about how you can SERVE people. This is the exactly how to Sell Avon without being Salesy! What need can you meet? How can your products benefit someone? Find out — by asking questions. Everyone loves to talk about themselves. And as they answer, listen for how an Avon product can add value to their life. Not only are you serving them this way, you are building relationships & trust. Relationships are what can overcome objections & skepticism. As you continue to meet their needs, you’ll be the first person they come to when they encounter their next need.
5. Fortune is the Follow Up
So many new representatives get stuck waiting for the phone to ring, when the truth is… it’s YOU who should be making your customer’s phone ring! Instead of waiting for the phone to ring after passing out a few brochures… call them! I call every customer every campaign and check in on how they are doing, how they are enjoying what they purchased from me last time, and ask how I can help them this week — I ask for the order!
Now obviously, you can’t follow up with someone if you don’t have their contact info. So this should be your top priority when talking to someone or making a new connection! Get the Contact Info so you CAN Follow up!
“Well how do I do that?” You might be asking. I like to use Avon’s Sweepstakes. Avon hosts a monthly giveaway. This is Free for you to promote – and best part is, When someone registers to win, they are entered into your address book in your web office and you now have their contact info AND Avon will begin sending them emails and marketing to them on your behalf. This frees you up to continue to build relationships with your potential customers. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to share your Avon sweepstakes.
The other way I like to get contact info, is just to ASK! “I’d love to stay in touch, what’s your number and I’ll text you?”
6. Be Consistent
Listen, this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. So allow yourself to be a beginner as you learn the business. So whatever works for you and your schedule with your family that you can commit to being CONSISTENT with – is what will benefit you the most. Consistency is Key! Whether you are putting in 5 hours a week or 40 hours a week – be consistent. If you choose to post about your business every day or twice a week – be consistent. Whether you call customers once a week or once a campaign – be consistent. Consistency lets your customers know you are reliable & trustworthy & builds your authority on the topics of your new brand.
7. Be Authentic
Be Yourself – No one else is going to do it exactly like you will. Find your niche, your audience, people like you. And when you are being authentic, that’s when people will be more likely to respond to you and take action with you (buy from you).
So here’s the thing about selling Avon on Social Media, the people who are following you – they like you! And many times like the same things you like! So SHOW people on social media what it is that YOU are loving from Avon – and what they can buy from you too. Isn’t this the definition of being an Avon Influencer?
However running a successful Avon Business looks like to you, do it your way. Be true to who you are – yet don’t let the fear of trying new things STOP you from doing new things! Do it Scared! You’re scared because you care! And usually when you do something scared – something amazing is about to happen!
8. Don’t Rely ONLY on Family & Friends to Grow your Business
More than likely, your first customers are going to be your friends and family. Mine were! My mom and sisters were my first customers! The people closest to you, that love you, are going to want to help & support you. So by all means, reach out to them and let them in on your exciting news!
But if you want to continue to grow a sustainable Avon business, your’e going to need to start to find customers outside of your warm market, start networking and meeting new people so you have new people to sell to.

9. Pay attention to your Opportunities for Bonuses & Incentives
As a New Avon Representative, your clock starts ticking immediately on your opportunity for CASH BONUSES and FREE Product Collections! Don’t leave money on the table because you don’t know what’s available to you!
You are eligible for New Representative Incentives in Avon’s Commission Chart in your first 8 campaigns (about 4 months). Remember a campaign is Avon’s 2 week selling cycle.
